I know that the former Yugoslavia experienced lots of political turmoil in the XXth century and the local people had better things to do than to compile lists of the best films but I think lack of anything Yugoslav seems a gaping hole among the official lists. I have no doubt that local cinema is no less interesting than Romanian or Hungarian, especially taking into account varied ethnic background of its creators.
It is a gap we’re aware of. From what I recall the issue is a lack of a good source for a Yugoslav list. There is a Serbian list that can be considered but it’s not the same thing.
