About Il Grande Cinema Italiano list. Number 59 on the list, Condottieri (1937), probably should be another version of the film with the same name, same screenwriters, same director, but italian cast instead of german - https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/condottieri-1937-2/.
Nice catch! And not only is it a wrong language version that was included, iCM has a duplicate bug for that as well (a total of 3 movies from 1937 with the title Condottieri!). Two bugs in one fell swoop! I think Iāve managed to put the right movie in place, but do feel free to double check!
Apologies for including the wrong Condottieri on my original list. Thanks for updating.
I just updated Locarno: Golden Leopard
In the past the award of Locarno wasnāt always called āGolden Leopardā. It was a bit unclear which prizes could be seen as former versions of that award. Wikipedia-pages in different languages list different movies. The official site of Locarna just lists all prizes. Luckily there is this page, using the wayback-machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/20120304072806/http://www.pardo.ch/jahia/Jahia/home/Festival/History/Winners-of-the-Golden-Leopard/lang/en
I updated the list according to this page.
Two movies were removed:
One movie was added:
The source in the Kinema Junpo Top Japanese Films list needs to be changed. Right now the source links to itself.
I find it odd that the 1943 version of The Rickshaw Man is included in this list but the 1958 one is not. It seems strange to me because the 1958 version appears in the annual top ten list (7. ē”ę³ę¾ć®äøē) for that year while the 1943 version doesnāt. But I canāt confirm if itās an error because I canāt find a good source on this list anywhere.
Thatās an issue on a lot of the lists. Marijn has it on his list of bugs to fix.
You can find a version of the Kinema Jumpo list at http://www.wildgrounds.com/2010/02/26/kinema-junpos-top-japanese-films-2009-version/ - as far as I can tell, they list the 1943 version as well (#62).
This Japanese source lists the 1943 version as well, so itās probably correct. Incidentally, the 1953 version is listed in the 1999 version of the list.
Also it would be less confusing and more informative if the description of the list included the following information:
-
Year of publication (2009, hence no movies after 2008 are listed).
-
Number of critics polled. It might be 114 according to a google translation of this.
-
All the ties in the list. From here and here:
ā7-9 tied for seventh
10-12 tied for tenth
13-16 tied for thirteenth
17-22 tied for seventeenth
23-35 tied for twenty-third
36-58 tied for thirty-sixth
59-105 tied for fifty-ninth
106 on is a huge, bizarre tie for last placeā
Hi folks, Why do not we get notifications about the non-imdb list of updates?
I get messages like āTop List Updatesā, and it is only related to imdb lists.
IMDb list updates are automated, so itās easy to send out an automatic email with the changes made. All other lists are manually updated and itās more difficult to include those changes in an automatic email.
One way you can check to see if youāve missed some updated lists, is to go to Lists > Official Lists and then use the āOrder byā drop-down menu and select ālast updatedā.
We mention which lists have been updated since last time when we post a blog post with new lists, but thatās only about 4 times/year, so the above method is more reliable.
I just updated TimeOutās 1000 Films to Change Your Life. 11 movies were added, simply because they were accidentally missing before. 102 titles were removed, because they were only mentioned in filmography sections of those directors.
Thanks to @TreadwayNathan for going through the book.
Speaking of IMDB list updates, the IMDB genre lists havenāt been updated since July 25th. The Top 250 list is still updating frequently. Are the genre lists being updated manually, or is there a bug in the automatic update process?
Itās probably related to a change imdb made in the way search results are displayed, so the parser is running into an error. Those lists are set to not be updated manually, so weāll have to wait for @marijn to fix it.
Iāll look into it. Thanks for reporting!
I just updated 1001 movies you must see before you die.

" 50 Greatest Sequels" was updated back in August. Could you update it here?
Sure, Iāll update it in a little bit. Thanks for letting us know.
Edit: Done. The source page almost crashed my browser, not sure why Empire felt the need to embed 60 youtube videos in a single pageā¦
I just updated Amos Vogelās Film as a Subversive Art. I added Palestine since it was added to IMDb.
