Poll: Lists that should be official 2021: Nominations Closed

Thanks Fergenaprido, thanks and yes, I meant to reference that one. To be honest the length of that combined list makes completing it a rather daunting prospect, hence I think it would be nice to see the top 100 of each of the two polls as official lists. Also they tend to be the ones the media focus on.

I nominate the TSPDT Poll: 1,005 Film Favourites

This is already nominated

Ok, thanks. I saw a 250-film version of the poll results nominated but I think the full list should be made official. Apologies if I missed it.

I couldn’t find any but an Asian Horror List would be great too (with the likes of Ringu, Kairo, Dark Water, The Grudge, Shutter, Ichi the Killer, etc, etc, etc).

No problem. If you want to nominate the two lists individually, I recommend you add the Top 100 to icm. It will give people a better view of which films are included as opposed to looking at the source.

Are you going to pick more than 4 new lists like you did last time you did this 3 years ago?

We’ve adopted 10 of the top 20 from the last poll, plus several other lists that covered similar topics better that came out after (like the directed by women list which is a better list than the two which did well in the poll). The poll is a very big part of how we choose lists, though it is not the sole determining factor.

The Complete Video Nasties List (Section 1,2 and 3)
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/the+complete+video+nasties+list+section+12+and+3/peacefulanarchy/
Its a list of movies that were determined to be so “indecent” that they were banned and made illegal for possession or sale! If that level of censorship doesn’t deserve attention, then I dont know what does.

The Church of Satan’s Approved Films
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/the+church+of+satans+approved+films/dulcedoes/
If we’re going to have a spiritual list, then why not celebrate the antithesis to spirituality? These are the films that represent the best of existence to Satanists.

Criterion Collection Stand-Alone Extras
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/criterion+collection+stand-alone+extras/jonas+van+dutch/
We have two Criterion lists, but for some reason we only count the films that receive a spine number, not the individual films included as “bonus features”. We’ve had this debate for ages about whether or not the extras count as an integral part of the release, and I think its finally time to end the debate and make this list official! Give the bonus films their proper respect.

Also Ran lists (someone else please nominate these):

-CinemaSnob’s reviewed films (what better way to interact with a movie than to watch a video review of it!)

-Indicator - This company has surpassed Masters of Cinema as the pre-eminent UK distributor. Their releases are absolutely crammed with extras + they pick a fantastic selection of obscure gems.

-Second Run - Has been releasing underappreciated films for years - they deserve some love and attention for their hard work - which has been consistently excellent. If we’re going to honor Criterion and Masters of Cinema - its time for another label to receive some spotlight, as they are carrying on distributing films which have otherwise languished in obscurity.
